Resources
Prepare NOW Hawaiʻi
Prepare N.O.W. Hawaiʻi is an initiative designed to enhance community resilience and readiness for emergencies. The program emphasizes three key components:
- N = Necessities Identify essential items and resources you need to sustain yourself and your family during an emergency for two weeks.
- O = Organization Create a structured plan for how you will respond to various emergencies, including roles for family members and communication plans.
- W = Wellness Focus on both physical and mental well-being, ensuring that you and your loved ones are prepared to cope with the stress of emergencies.
Get Ready
- Make a Plan Create an emergency plan for everyone in your household that outlines what to do in different scenarios, including evacuation routes and communication strategies.
- Build a Kit Gather essential supplies for everyone you live with, such as food, water, medications, important documents, comfort items, flashlights, batteries, radios, and other necessities, in a designated emergency bag for easy access during a crisis.
- Stay Informed Keep updated on emergency information before, during, and after an event through reliable sources like local news, emergency alerts, and community resources.
By focusing on these elements, Prepare N.O.W. Hawaiʻi aims to empower individuals and families to be proactive in their efforts to prepare for emergencies where they live, work, gather, and travel.
